Outlook Express File Location

If you are an Outlook Express user then you must know the location where Outlook Express saves the DBX files. DBX files are used to store user’s emails, contacts, calendars, drafts, sent items, etc. You must know the location of DBX files due to below mentioned reasons:

  • Backup the DBX files

  • Access the DBX files to repair them; there can be times when you come across the DBX corruption. At that time, you need to repair the corrupt DBX file and for that you should know the location of DBX file. If you are not aware of the location, then how you will repair the DBX files.

Because of the aforementioned reasons, you should know the Outlook Express File Location. Listed below are the steps that help you know the location of DBX files:

  1. Launch MS Outlook Express. To do this, click Start > All Programs > Outlook Express:

  1. Main Window of Outlook Express opens up. Here, click Options in the Tools menu:

  1. The “Options” dialog box appears. Here, select the Maintenance tab:

  1. Click the Store Folder button. The “Store Location” dialog box opens up:

  1. Here, copy the location given in the “Your personal message store is located in the following folder” box.

  2. Click the Cancel button to close the “Store Location” dialog box.

  3. Click the Cancel button to close the “Options” dialog box.

  4. Now, click Start > Run. The “Run” dialog box opens up:

  1. Place the mouse cursor in the Open combo box and press CTRL + V.

  2. Press the OK button. You will see all DBX files keeping your Outlook Express emails.

This is how to know the Outlook Express File location. You should remember the path or save the path to a notepad file, so that you can easily navigate to the DBX files whenever required. For example, if you like to backup important files then you are suggested to backup DBX files too. Backing up DBX files, makes you sure that you never loss any data due to DBX file corruption. However, to backup DBX files, you must know where they are stored in the computer.
